1896 Milnes toastrack horse cars 35 and 37 retain their adverts for Isle of Man Transport as seen in these two views taken at Derby Castle. A pleasant feature of the 'IOMT' trams is the removal of roof end advert boards allowing a much more symmetrical and attractive appearance |
Two open toastrack cars sit outside Derby Castle depot, 40 and 21 were both built by Milnes as 32 seaters in 1902 and 1890. Along with a number of other cars they were lengthened during the 1930's to increase the capacity to 40 seats. Although fully operational, neither have been intensively used during the last couple of years, but with the addition of adverts for HSBC to car 21 the latter has returned to use for 2004. Saloon car 27 can be seen inside the depot, these cars are normally only used in inclement weather |
