The following selection of photographs shows some of the Islands transport scene around the 1959-1961 period and have been submitted by Mr. John. A. Kernahan, to whom the MERS is very grateful. Copyright for each view remains with Mr. Kernahan

Manx Electric Railway car 15 and 1893 class trailer is seen at Laxey station on a summer day, unusually facing Douglas on the northbound track

MER Paddlebox car 25 stands at Ramsey station, the different applications of the red and white livery can clearly be seen when comparing the power car to the trailer

Mr. Kernahan has being visiting the Island for nearly half a century during which time many things have changed, but the ambiance of this view of a Snaefell tram passing Browns cafe is still much the same today as it was when the photo was taken nearly 45 years ago in 1960. A fully laden Snaefell Mountain Railway car 3 is seen climbing on the right hand road bound for Snaefell summit.

Groudle Glen Railway shortly before closure, loco Polar Bear and three carriages have arrived at the Headland but there appears to be a lack of custom on this occasion. The engine would shortly shunt around the rake of carriages prior to returning to Lhen Coan
