Issue date: Monday 17 February 2003 JOINT PRESS RELEASE FROM THE DEPARTMENT OF TOURISM AND LEISURE AND THE MANX ELECTRIC RAILWAY SOCIETY After months of positive discussions between Tourism and Leisure Minister David Cretney and his officers and the Manx Electric Railway Society, a conservation policy has now been agreed whereby all parties believe that the unique Manx heritage of the electric tramways, their buildings and rolling stock will be preserved for future generations of Manx people and visitors to enjoy. It is to be hoped that the atmosphere of co-operation between the Department and the Manx Electric Railway Society will be equally enduring.
